How do I register my child for Kindergarten?

All registrations are done online. To register your child, visit the Peace River School Division's Registration page HERE.

Before you begin your registration form, make sure you have gathered the following information.

Registration Checklist

  • Student's Birth Certificate or Proof of Canadian Citizenship
  • Mailing Address & physical home address
  • Supporting documents for any applicable special needs or accommodations
  • Any court orders or agreements regarding parenting, custody, access, or contact
  • Information about non-life threatening and life-threatening medical conditions and allergies
  • Emergency Contact information

Does Nampa Public School offer a full-time Kindergarten Program?

At this time, Nampa Public School does not offer a full-time Kindergarten program. Our program runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday for full days, from 8:50 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

How old does my child need to be to start Kindergarten?

Children need to be five years old before December 31 of the current school year in order to register for Kindergarten. If you are unsure about when your child can start Kindergarten, use the Peace River School Division's Kindergarten Calculator found HERE.

 

 

Can I apply to have my child start Kindergarten early?

Early entry to any of the Peace River School Division's Kindergarten programs is available as early as the age of two years, eight months old (2.8). Early Childhood programs are offered at every PRSD school and are designed to support students who have been identified by Alberta Health Services with severe disabilities and delays. Students with moderate or mild disabilities or delays may be eligible to begin Kindergarten as early as 3 years, 8 months old.

When is the first day of Kindergarten?

At Nampa Public School Kindergarten students start on the first day of school along with the rest of our students.

What will my child need to bring?

Your child will need to bring a backpack, indoor and outdoor shoes, a capped water bottle, and a lunch kit. For a list of other school supplies, please view the Nampa Public School list HERE.

Is school bus transportation provided?

Nampa Public School students that reside more than 1 km from the school are eligible for school bus transportation at no cost. Bus passes can be purchased for children that live less than 1 km from the school. If you have any concerns, or if your child may need special accommodations, please contact the Peace River School Division's Transportation Department for more information at 780-624-3006.

Note there are no Kindergarten buses that run during lunch time for half time programs.

What will my child learn in Kindergarten?

Learning is structured through organized activities and purposeful play. Kindergarten programming at Nampa Public School is all about setting our littlest learners up for success in their next 12 years of education.

Is Kindergarten programming offered in English and French Immersion?

All PRSD schools, including Nampa Public School, offer English Kindergarten programs. NPS does not offer a French Immersion program. French Immersion is available at École Springfield Elementary School in Peace River.

Is there a Kindergarten open house, orientation or meet and greet events?

Yes! Our Kindergarten Open House usually takes place in mid-April. However, we can arrange alternate meet-and-greets as needed. Contact the school office for more information.

Are there any fees for Kindergarten?

There are no fees for students who attend Kindergarten at Nampa Public School
