Welcome back to another exciting year at Nampa Public School.  A special welcome to our new students joining us this year.  I’m sure you will become part of the Nampa Public School family in no time.

School Opening and Breakfast Club

Our playground will have a supervisor on duty at 8:35 AM every school day.  Our student entrance will remain locked until 8:50 AM and will remain locked throughout the day (PRSD #10 policy).  Parents can enter through our main entrance.  Kindly do not send your child to school before 8:35 AM as it is a safety issue.  All students will be expected to play on the playground until the bell rings at 8:50 AM (unless due to weather, see below).  Once again, Elbow River Marketing and Boucher Bros. are generously sponsoring our breakfast club.  Students who wish to have breakfast may come inside starting at 8:35 AM (the supervisor will either let them in or direct them to the front entrance), leave their belongings at their locker, and go to the breakfast club.  On mornings where the principal calls an inside recess due to weather, doors will be opened at 8:35 AM and students will be expected to come inside and sit at their lockers until 8:50 AM.

Visitors During The Day

For the safety of our students and staff, all visitors must sign in at the office and wear visitor ID tags (PRSD #10 policy), which are available at the office.  In the event of an emergency, everyone must be accounted for, including our parents.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this.

Staff Room

Our parent volunteers are very important to us and we really appreciate having you here.  However, our staffroom often has student sensitive information in it and for that reason we ask parents to please refrain from entering the staffroom.

End of the Day

Unless you are picking your child up early for an appointment or other engagement, please do not arrive to pick your children up before 3:15 PM.  Our last bell rings at 3:25 PM and our students need to remain focused until the end of the day.  Again, thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that your children have the best educational environment possible.  Parents are more than welcome to wait in the parent lounge located next to the kitchen off the main entrance (no ID tag required in this area!).

School Supplies

All students are expected to have the required school supplies as indicated on the attached supply list.  Please check to make sure your child has what they need to be successful at school.

Library Procedures

We are very proud of our library at NPS.  We ask that parents help us, and their children, by remembering the following library procedures:

  • Library day is Tuesday for all students grades 1-6.
  • Our first library day for the year will be September 3.
  • Students are allowed 1 book (1-3) or 2 books (4-6) per week.
  • Reference books (red dot in the corner of the cover) are not to leave the library.  If one of these comes home please return it to the school as soon as possible.
  • Students who do not return their library book will not be allowed to take out another one until the book is returned (Library Policy – Parent Handbook)
  • Books that haven’t been returned after 3 weeks overdue will be considered lost and an invoice will be issued to parents to replace the book.  Students will not be allowed to take out a book until the invoice is paid.
  • Damaged books will be treated the same as lost books.

School Council / Nampa School Enhancement Society

Our school council / NSES is one of the best ways you can get involved in your child’s school and education.  We are always looking for parents / guardians that are willing to take part and get involved.  Our first meeting of the year is Wednesday, September 11, 2018 @ 6:30 PM here at the school.  I look forward to seeing you there!
